Bob received his Airframe & Powerplant License in 1960 and Inspection Authorization in 1963. His career spanned more than 60 years until his passing in 2019. In 2011, Bob was awarded the very prestigious Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award from the FAA.
In 1984, he relocated to Boulder Municipal Airport in response to the need for a quality A&P maintenance operator. Because of his background and long tenure at Beechcraft - and after the closings of Denver Beechcraft and Aircraftco Beech in Broomfield - Bob was immediately welcomed as a source of competent service for the complete line of Beechcraft aircraft at Boulder. Before long, Beechcraft owners would ferry their planes to his shop from around the region as his experience and skills became widely recognized.
Brungard Aviation expanded its customer base to include all aircraft in need of service and maintenance as his reputation for running an honest and professional shop was soon established.
As is the case with most small shops, scheduling can be problematic as aircraft can breakdown at any time without regard to a standard 9 to 5 workday schedule. This was never the case with Brungard Aviation. Bob made every sacrifice to keep his shop open and available seven days a week and went out of his way to provide expert and quality work regardless of tight scheduling issues.
It was not unusual for other mechanics and aircraft owners to call him for his opinion regarding technical issues and their resolution. He was fully dedicated to the general aviation community and is missed by all.
